The Canada Research Chair in Immigration and Security has for mission to:

  • Propose a multidisciplinary dialogue on security and the securitization of international migration
  • Enrich our empirical understanding of the multifaceted migration-security nexus with the help of a comparative analysis of several countries

Chairholder

Philippe Bourbeau is the first Director of the Graduate School in International Studies at the University Laval. Bourbeau is Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University Laval. His work adopts a multidisciplinary approach to international issues. He has published articles on the securitization of migration, the power of numbers in global governance, resilience as applied to world politics, the practice approach in international relations, and a multidisciplinary theorization of security.
